Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.

Applications at the moment are open and can shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the subsequent requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home with a combined gross residence income that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined residence profits doesn't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and wish not submit any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens click here and permanent residents from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the proper Identification Document nsfas check numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are researching or plan to research at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
